List the precautions that need to be taken around patients at risk and educate them about febrile neutropenia.
-
Assess the risk of patients developing febrile neutropenia and explain how this influences their treatment pathway.
-
Describe how G-CSFs are used prophylactically and in the management of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia.
-
List the differences between short- and long-acting G-CSFs.
-
Explain how biosimilars are developed and used to achieve the same outcomes for patients as their reference products.

Find practical approaches to incorporating biosimilars into healthcare system formularies and care pathways.

State the use cases of switching to a biosimilar and for multiple switching.
About This Course
Welcome to this 30-minute e-learning course created for nurses and nurse practitioners. After completing this course, nurses will improve their knowledge of biosimilar G-CSFs in treatment of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. They will become better skilled in identifying patients who are at risk for neutropenia and its complications. Nurses will be prepared to discuss the need for use of a biosimilar prophylactically or in the management of the condition. The gained knowledge will enhance interdisciplinary communication within the patient care team. The course covers clinical and economic considerations and outlines current laws when incorporating a biosimilar in the formulary, switching patients to a biosimilar and multiple switching.
