This course has been designed to provide doctors and other relevant healthcare professionals with a practical overview of the management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis with interleukin-6 receptor inhibition therapy, with a specific focus on tocilizumab and its biosimilars. By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • list the symptoms of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) (specifically, systemic JIA and polyarticular JIA) and describe its impact on children and their families.

  • explain the mechanism of action of interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) inhibitors and their biosimilars.

  • explain the place of IL-6R inhibitors and their biosimilars in the management of JIA subtypes, particularly systemic JIA and polyarticular JIA, and JIA-associated uveitis.

  • identify the right patients for anti-IL-6R therapy.
